Even before entering this restaurant I was already in love with it, as it is in the most beautiful hotel in Miami. The ambiance and service start as you pull into the beautiful property and continue from valet to the restaurant. The food and service at this restaurant are impeccable. I was here with friends and we enjoyed every moment.

Amazing restaurant, best overall the veal delicious, the meat ball out of this world. The servers are the best of the place. Favorite restaurant in North Miami.

Miami spice menu for $23 for lunch is such a good deal. You get so much food! (See photos.) mussels, gnocchi and tiramisu were amazing for the prince! Must have the cheese! Ask for it! Remember that the valet is $8 plus tip :/ that sucks. And it takes almost 30 mins for them to get your car because it's across the street in a parking garage! Such a joke. They do call ahead via text so make sure you use it! Sunday brunch is great also. But must go when you can sit outside, cooler weather! Much better than the south beach Miami location. Beautiful view!

My all time favorite Italian restaurant in Miami! I've always had dinner here but today we decided to come for lunch. Fantastic service, they always make you feel special! If you'd like to have a 5 star dining experience, this is the place to go. My favorite pasta on the menu is the Capellini Li Mulino - pasta with wild mushrooms and sweet peas in a vodka cream and black truffle sauce - the best!!

Come with an empty stomach and a full wallet. The wine selection is pretty good; prices from 60$-1500$. Once you're seated, get ready to be bombarded with delish complimentary appetizers. For the main course, the porcini and truffle ravioli is a must! If you're not too hungry anymore from all the appetizers, half portions are available. For sweets, have the sampling platter: tiramisu, flourless chocolate torte and the ricotta cheesecake. Yums!

This is it my favorite restaurant period. The first il Mulino is a tiny spot in New York's Greenwich village by Washington square. Any dish there is 5 stars, but I'm getting ahead if myself. The service is superb, after you are seated you receive complimentary aged parmigiana cheese, sliced pepperoni, spicy vegetables and more! No need to order appetizers. Back to the main course, any shrimp dish is excellent and they use xl shrimps. The fruta del mar risotto is my favorite. My wife loves the lamb chops with roasted potatoes. There deserts are also great, I love the tortufo, it goes great with coffee and the complimentary grapa. In my humble opinion il Mulino ( New York or Miami) is the best restaurant in the United States.

1 star because i could not give less, the food had no taste, the presentation in the plate was horrible, the service caught nothing and on top of that it is very expensive. I would not recommend this place to anyone!!!

This restaurant is by far the best around. Not only was the food amazing but the entire experience was spectacular. The waitstaff provided a unique and individual experience recommending wine and food based on our conversation and the chef even made a special dish for me that was similar to the one I wanted but gluten free due to my allergy. Overall the best experience I've had in south florida to date and we will be returning to dine here again.

The best restaurant in the area, the service is excellent, the food is perfectly well prepared and yes it is expensive but if you can't afford it, there's a mac Donalds across the street LOL.

Il Mulino New York takes the cake for me. I am a concierge and this was a treat. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you were just teleported to a authentic Italian restaurant in Italy itself. They immediately offered me a black napkin because I was wearing a black dress and out came the food. Parmesan cheese cut straight from the wheel, bruschetta and a mussel, a bread basket. My palette was already in heaven. My boyfriend and I got the clams to start. They were amazingly light and great to start. They had an amazing flavor. They were even kind enough to send some extra sauce so we could dip the little suckers into more of that amazingness. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Parmesan. When it was brought out, it looked just like a pizza! It was HUGE and topped with melted cheeses imported from Italy. He dug in and when he couldn't eat another bite, he took the rest home. We went to bed and I woke up at 2AM to him eating the rest of his leftovers, saying he was dreaming about them. Hilarious but my boyfriend is a picky eater and not easily impressed. I ordered the Scampi ala Frances. I have dined in a thousand restaurants before and this entrée quickly made my top 5. It was absolutely amazing. The flavor from the Frances sauce went so well with the risotto. I couldn't wait to eat the rest for lunch the next day, and it was just as good. For dessert, I got the banana's foster, which is cooked tableside by the fabulous Johnny. He was a pro cooking with all those flames. It was served with vanilla ice cream. My boyfriend (who HATES cooked bananas) gobbled it up like nothing I've ever seen! He was ranting and raving. The entire restaurant is an experience. One unlike any other. Worth the price. The ambiance takes your breath away. I can't wait to go back.

I love some Mulino ! Italy in South Florida. Everything I ordered off the menu was worth ordering again and again. Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Fra Diavolo, Sausage and Peppers, Broccoli Rabe and Clams are all great. They have pick-up but the dine in experience is where it is at. They offered a $25 lunch special as well. If your in the area this is the spot for official southern Italian food.

I have no complaints about Il Mulino at all. Food was excellent, but the service was beyond amazing. We were treated like royalty but i think it was mainly because the people we were with have ties to Il Mulino in New York. Located in the posh Acqualina resort, it has beautiful setting and beautiful decor. The whole staff was very courteous and friendly. We did not order wine, but they do have an extensive wine list. Everyone in our group was happy with their meal. Portions are large. Everything was very well prepared. My husband's risotto was delicious. I had the veal scaloppini al marsala. It was excellent!. The burrata was yummy but i didn't feel it was creamy enough. The maitre D had a sampler of all dessersts brought to our table compliments of the house. Nice touch. Everyone from the bartender to the Maitrre D and even food runners were top notch. Cannot wait to visit again.

Great service provided by a warm and attentive team last night at Il Mulino in the Acqualina Resort. The vibe inside is classic NY style Italian restaurant and the staff is incredible. All of the tasty bites pre-dinner were lovely and unexpected. Dinner itself was pretty good, pasta made without tomato sauce by special request was delicious. Caprese salad came with hard cold tomatoes but the server replaced it with an alternate salad to correct the problem. Overall will return for the whole branzino with the family!

I love love love coming here every time I stay at the Aqualina. I wish this was an annual trip but the conference is going to another city. Boo! But I'm so glad I had the experience to come here two years in a row. I orderered the escargot. omg...delicious! it was inside mushroom and the sauce was so rich. Oh and I forgot to mention that they gave me some appetizers on the house before I even ordered food. For my entree, I had $49 lobster ravioli but damn they were freaking heavenly!! I would die to have those ravioli again. Just thinking about it makes me happy. I wish i went for dessert but at this point, I was simply too stuffed. Thank you il mulino for always knowing how to make this girl so happy. The staff have always been extremely attentive. Love being pampered! :)

First off. Bring a date. Don't have one? Find one. this place is built for couples. Pricey? oh yes, but you get a lot for it. A parade of antipasto, generous to a fault serving sizes means no one leaves this place hungry. The carpaccio of beef appetizer perfectly sliced and beautifully prepared was exceptional. Veal saltimbocca however was a bit heavy on the sauce but yes somehow a bit too bland. I typically don't salt my food in deference to the chef however the this dish required it. Pasta is homemade and cooked perfect aldente. Desserts are massive , clearly intended to be shared by the table. The wine list is well assembled and offers a nice selection of new and old world wines. Perhaps due to the high rent district they are in, the wine prices are as strong as I've seen and good values are limited. The decor is very attractive, old world and traditional, interviews if you happen to be here in daytime are extraordinary. Service is six star, the finest I've seen in a long time, flawless in every regard Recommended.

Food was good. My red snapper and lobster special was over sauced, but overall very fresh. Service was excellent. We probably had 7 different people waiting on us. That must just be overflow of the resort the restaurant is in, Acqualina, which is AMAZING! Plenty of good starters, and the wine list is very good.

Perfect dining experience in a classy building. From start to finish the meal and staff were on the up and up. Lemon chicken was delicious and so was the gnocchi. Great place to take a date. Can't wait to go back.

It's Amore @ IL Mulino NY- Miami Located inside the beautiful Aqualina Resort in Sunny Isles, IL Mulino NY takes you back to old school fine dining. John the Maître dean is incredibly welcoming, like visiting an old friend. With lovely water views from the veranda, the elegant yet comfortable atmosphere will make you feel at home while instigating romance in the air. All dishes are made to order, homemade pastas, fresh seafood and wonderful desserts. Check out the early bird specials for an amazing deal. From start to finish this is a classic example of elegant, romantic and sophisticated dining.

Service, Appetizers/Entrees, and atmosphere were EXCELLENT!! Went there after an event on the beach. Reservations at 10pm, and the place was still happening and busy. We were all pretty hungry and not to worry- fresh bread, parmesan cheese, eggplant and salami was brought to our table prior to even ordering. Our captain Eric was down to earth and extremely helpful in deciding our entrees. All the staff was attentive and didn't miss a thing! Every entree was perfection. Extensive wine list and amazing service. Would recommend and definitely return!!

Three Strikes You're Out!! I used incredibly bad judgement by agreeing to go to this restaurant last night. After having been ripped off by after Las Vegas location (they padded the bill), and and then waiting for three hours to get dinner served at their location in Aspen (now closed, I wonder why?); I was foolish enough to agree to go to their restaurant on Collins Avenue where it only took 2 1/2 hours to be served dinner! Enough is enough, lesson learned, diners beware!

i would like to be able to give the most objective review as possible but cannot get past one of the most traumatic experiences i have ever had in a restaurant. first and foremost the setting is ok, if you think its cool to arrive at a las vegas style lobby (think bellagio) in miami....for me was a little over the top and the actual flow of the entrance left alot to be desired as you weave thru a complicated maze of reception areas and concierge stations. that being said the service was beyond unacceptable for my group, we waited over an hour in between first course and main and meal took close to three hours total for service, staff was completely unorganized and inattentive. the kicker on my evening came when i went to use the mensroom and discovered that the hand towels had been urinated on, by far the most repulsive thing that has ever happened to me in any form of hopsitality and something i am still struggling to digest this morning (im sure a bad pun there somewhere)...perhaps if you are going to charge what they charge for entrees they may want to invest in a bathroom attendant to avoid future mishaps? when i confronted a manager her response was "yeah people do weird things here" .....ummmmm ,OK!!! regardless after informing management of our displeasure with service and my little bathroom incident we were offered comp desserts! LOL thanks but no thanks!

If you're looking for consistent, quality Tuscan food, Il Mulino is the place to come to. Not only is the food excellent, the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is authentic. From the moment you walk through the door, you feel like royalty. The hostess, Yorett, was very courteous. The waiters anticipated our requests. Service was above and beyond. Try this restaurant any day.

Best service, ambiance and food for miles. Always love the Il Mulino bites in the beginnning. Didn't need appetizers. Entrees were so huge we split a couple of them (which the kitchen does for you making it very simple). Pasta cooked tableside. Reasonable choices for wine by the bottle. This was the highlight of our visit and the locals that were with us cannot wait to return. We dressed up the the evening as this is a very upscale restaurant. Love all the Rolls Royces out front. BTW I asked them what happened on January 3 and they said they had 250 covers that night and were overwhelmed. This is not a large restaurant. We had been hesitant after reading the two very bad reviews. Our meal with dessert took about an hour and half. Service was the best I can remember anywhere. You are literally swarmed when you sit down with food. Even the bread basket is amazing. We loved the bruschetta and the garlic bread. (all included) Thank you Il Mulino for a truly memorable experience.

The restaurant is situated inside the beautiful Acqualina resort where we had the pleasure of staying. The welcoming attitude of the staff was quite nice. The complimentary appetizers was a refreshing change from the norm. My Fettuccini Alfredo was absolutely extraordinary. My wife enjoyed her seafood pasta dish though I thought the shrimp was overcooked. The ambiance is pleasant but not quite 5 stars. There are better restaurants at their price point but we certainly enjoyed ourselves.

Came here for dinner with the BF and some out-of-towners (but regular Miami visitors) and the evening was pretty damn incredible. Decor is lovely and the service is impeccable. They must have imported the waitstaff from somewhere. IMPECCABLE. I mean catching-the-empty-wineglass-out-of-your-hand-and-refilling-it-before-you-could-drop-it impeccable. To start, in addition to the chair-pulling and napkin-placing one would expect to find in a fine dining restaurant, we were immediately greeted by our TEAM of waitstaff, who promptly distributed our choice of water, made wine recommendations, and delivered complimentary chunks of parmigiano reggiano, spicy fried zucchini, and salami, along with a basket of garlic bread. Which was followed by an assortment of complimentary breads, including a butter-rich "spicy" toast that if I don't figure out how to recreate at home, the BF may leave me for one of Il Mulino's cooks. Which was followed by complimentary bruschetta and mussels. At this point, we were given menus and our captain began to regale us with the specials, which were innumerable. At this point, I honestly could have gone home full after all the free food, but we all decided to be gluttonous and order two courses anyway. All pastas can be ordered as an appetizer portion. The appetizer portion could have easily been my dinner, even without all the antipasto. The Ravioli ai Porcini, Gnocchi ai Pesto, Fettucine Alfredo, and salad and asparagus specials were all delicious. Get the ravioli or gnocchi - just wow. The BF had a steak special, which was HUGE and carved table side after being presented in all it's gigantic beefy gloriousness. I had the stuffed veal, based on other yelp reviews, which was good but not my favorite - definitely a bit of a letdown after everything I had tasted up to his point, however that was probably my fault for ordering something I was somewhat iffy on in the first place. (I'm just not really a brown sauce kind of girl.) Our friends had a squid-ink pasta special and something else which I can't remember and all raved. After dinner, when we were getting all our leftovers packed up and finishing our wine, we declined dessert, as we were worried about all of us fitting in the car on the way back with our newly-distended bellies. They brought out complimentary zabaglione, biscotti and house-made grappa anyway. All of which we finished. In short, this is a dining experience. Yes, it's pricey. But when one factors in the large portion sizes, the incredible amount of complimentary food, the impeccable service, and the guaranteed good time, it's actually quite a deal.

THAT'S NOT AMORE--it's a fruit fly. A whole swarm of 'em invading our table by the window when we were trying to enjoy our Miami Spice Lunch. My friend loves the Il Mulino in New York and she suggested we try the Miami location for lunch. It started out great when they brought some amazing roasted eggplant with the bread basket, but things went downhill quickly when the flies showed up. The meal was satisfactory, but forgettable. I had a really nice arugula salad starter, and the cheesecake dessert was yummy. Coffee was served lukewarm. Service was definitely the "B" team. I suppose that's to be expected midday on Wednesday. The restaurant felt like an afterthought to the hotel. Not a lot of love or creativity here.

Too.Damn.expensive. Came here for wife's birthday. The food is very good. Wife got whole fish carved at table side.i got steak. Without alcohol, still over $100. Plus, factor in valet costs. The hotel is very nice, so you can walk around afterwards. But for the price, you can do better

Dark old school looking Italian place with great service. The Bolognese was really good and the chicken parm. This place is very romanic with Julio Iglesias playing. Sad there wasn't a meatball to try. Highly recommend for a date.

Last night's meal was simply astounding. We hadn't been here in a while, perhaps because we've moved farther north or perhaps we had simply forgotten how great it was. Either way, we decided to make a five-minute-before-arriving reservation, and they warmly accepted and provided a terrific table upon entering. The service is impeccable, as usual, and everyone makes you feel like a celebrity. They still bring the table an enormous amount of "free" appetizers, and they are still as tasty as ever. We ordered a bottle of chianti, which was delicious and obviously well-stored. Small criticism is that the wine list is super expensive, and I would suggest to them a better range of price points. As for the meal, we shared the squid ink (black) risotto with lobster tail (split in the kitchen) for an appetizer, then shared the pistachio crusted lamb chops (two thick chops each), with an extra side of broccoli rabe. Absolutely incredible - perfectly prepared lamb with a well balanced crunch of pistachio. They still end the meal with a flavored grappa/spirit, which capped our night perfectly. Can't wait to return!

Excellent food and service. The gnocchi in vodka sauce isn't in the menu, as such but you can ask for it. It was absolutely delicious. We've been to the W 3d location several times. The Miami outpost has it beat!

Went here for a lunch meeting, it was late lunch, approx 1:30pm, so the place was pretty empty You know how sometimes you go to a place, and when they are not too busy, they usually not giving you much attention since "YOU'RE" the only table they got, but not here Great service all the way, from the moment we walked in till we walked out. I had the Salmon, and....oh.. I gotta say, delicious! Or maybe I'm just too hungry. lol No just kidding, is it delicious. Great place to take your date to, and of course taken your date to the Acqualina Hotel and walk through the hotel lobby to the restaurant, already so..impress to your date, you probably can get a room upstairs too. lol Well, good luck, remember, bring your date here if you wanna impress her

The best Italian food EVER!!!! In Las Vegas, New York, or Miami, don't waste time on any other restaurant!! The most amazing service I have ever received at any restaurant in the world and I've traveled a lot! Extremely personable servers and management...love this place!!!

When you enter the restaurant, you will see a bar. Get a drink, they make a solid martini. The restaurant is very well decorated, fancy and elegant. The service is exceptional and well trained. However, it is the food and how they serve it, that really puts it over the top - they feed you like crazy. There is a good chance you will be full before you order, I'm not kidding. When you sit down, they will very quickly bring to the table: ...Cut parmesan cheese ...Italian breads ...Brushettas ..Salami ...Fried Zucchini It is all pretty amazing. The food is all really top notch, everything on the menu is great. I highly recommend the following: ...Fried calamari - fresh made, lightly fried ...Caesar salad - probably the best around and can easily be shared ...Veal parmesan - It is a huge piece of breaded veal, fit for 2+ people. It is pounded thin and the size of a large dinner plate ...Dover sole - it is large, expensive and de-boned table side The best part comes at the end of the meal... when they serve you some homemade, cold grappa. It is the perfect finish. The check shouldn't be terrible if you share appetizers and entrees. I highly recommend walking around the hotel and outside the restaurant on a nice night. It is beautiful and you will get a great ocean breeze.

I was really excited to try this restaurant because of the Yelp reviews. The free appetizers mentioned from others did arrive at the table. The waiters were friendly. There was salami... Fried zucchini (very greasy) and bruschetta. The bruschetta was excellent. My $15. Caesar salad was very so so. The $46.00 filet average. My side of veggies $15. was good. I did not think the service was as it should be for a restaurant of this calabar. It was good, but skipped a few beats here and there. Also, our main server had strong body odor. The resort itself was beautiful and the staff very nice.

Why this place doesn't have a 5 star rating is beyond me. I have dined here probably about 5 times. The thing I enjoy most about this restaurant are its incredible, memorable, leaving you speechless sauces. I mean you put their sauce on anything and I feel like shouting out Bam! like Emeril every time I take a bite. The service is fantastic and ambiance is absolutely beautiful. The porcini ravioli is out of this world. As is the homemade cheesecake. I have cravings on a weekly basis for this place. I am not a fan of doing lunch here. To get the full experience dine at dinner time.

  • R.c. K.

Wow, the "Carla M." review on 9/2012 is spot on. I felt like that could have been my review. To add my two cents: This restaurant is in the Top 5 for my wife and I. We came here twice during Miami Spice 2012 and twice in 2011. We first thought it would be too expensive to visit outside of Miami Spice, but I noticed that the best dish on the menu (Ravioli ai Porcini with Truffle sauce) is reasonably priced. We could probably split an appetizer and perhaps the cheesecake (a must). This is possible because of the insane amounts of food they throw at you before even taking your order: salami, bread, parmesan cheese, bruschetta, and grilled zucchini. I may even be forgetting something. Anyway, with all those items plus the three regular courses, we would leave Miami Spice ready to explode. So, if we tone it down a bit, we can get close to Miami Spice prices but still experience the same food-gasm as usual. BTW, don't bring your own wine. Corkage is insane. If you like red, get "Le Difese" (Super Tuscan). For white, try the Simi Russian River Chardonnay .

  • Tony M.

Dined here on 8/19. Service and food are definitely top notch. I had also been to the location at the Ritz in Puerto Rico a few years ago, but for some reason the experience here was far better. Excellent cheese and charcuterie as complements of the house. The appetizers were excellent. I had the homemade pappardelle. It was fantastic. The mushroom risotto was probably one of the best I have had. Service was super attentive. The only reason I do not give them five stars is because the wine list is sort of limited when it comes to reasonably priced wines. No bottles of red for under $75. We ended up going with a super Tuscan for $88, and it was nothing special. I really find it annoying that you can probably get the same wine at a store for less than $20. I saw several tables with patrons who only ordered a glass of wine or no wine at all. Maybe they would attract more business if they had some wine choices around $40 or $50.

Great service!!!! Extremely attentive staff and are there to help you. Food is excellent and freshly made. Pasta is made freshly and just 'al-dente,' and the sauce is so tasty where you almost want to lick your plate. The veal chop was bone-in and was really juicy and tender, prepared as requested. The only complaint is that it lacked a bit of seasoning. The only thing that really saved it was the crispy sage leaves that were served with it along with the salt and pepper shakers on the table. Desert was pleasant and freshly made. By the way...SERVICE IS AMAZING!! Had an extremely romantic evening with my beautiful wife...

Stayed at the Aqualina where the Restaraunt is located. This place is not inexpensive but the food, maitre de and wait staff were fabulous. Frankly, we live in Michigan and there is no Restaraunt that comes close to Il Mulino. One of the top meals we have EVER had. We were seated right away and immediately attended to and given, salami, to die for bruschetta, fried zucchini and bread. We ordered mussels that were in an amazing white wine and garlic sauce. The best spinach salad my wife has ever had. Main course wife had homemade pasta with mushrooms and basil sauce. She said it was the best pasta ever. I had Ossobuco which fell off the bone, very good. For dessert we ordered peach sorbet. Not your ordinary kind. They brought two kinds, one on the house. They hollowed out a lemon and peach and froze sorbet in the fruit. Last they brought us complimentary limoncello. This place is romantic and as closest to Italy in the states you can get. 5 stars.

I visted during the weekday around 2:15pm for lunch and the restaurant seemed closed - there were only two other tables occupied. The waiters didn't seem very welcoming, maybe b/c lunch ends at 2:30 and they wanted to rest or something. The lunch menu is VERY LIMITED. We ordered the nicoise salad w/tuna and a veal dish. The Nicoise salad was made with what seemed to be CANNED TUNA! I couldn't believe that a salad that costs almost $20 will not be served with pieces of fresh tuna - incredible! The veal dish was very tasty and so was the pasta, however it must have taken about 1 hour for us to get our meal. We had to bother a bus boy that was walking around to ask if maybe they forgot about us and our food. For such an upscale restaurant, which was empty and had about 6 waiters standing around, our service was horrible and the meal was not up to par. Would not visit them again. I'd rather go to Timo in Sunny Isles Bch, Carpaccios in Bal Harbour or Bella Luna in the Aventura mall. These three are a lot more energetic and the food is 100 times better! If you want to see the Acqualina Hotel (which is impressive), I suggest to just go to grab a drink at the bar in the hotel.

Before my spa day my friend (Magda M.) and I decided to get lunch at Il Mulino Restaurant in the lobby of the Acqualina Resort. I had been to the restaurant before (several years ago) for their Miami Spice dinner promotion and enjoyed it very much. This time my friend and I went for lunch. The restaurant is beautiful, classy and elegant. We were seated in front of the window which oversaw the one of the pools on the property and the ocean; the view was breathtaking. The food: as a starter the restaurant provides bread (3 different types) with an antipasto. My friend and I had the Tuscan burger with truffle fries. This has been the best burger of my life and I know my burgers. It was delicious; from the bread, to the meat, to the cheese and to the bacon pieces which topped it off nicely = absolutely AWESOME. The truffle fries were also like nothing I have ever tried before. The service: the service was great. We were consistently being attended to and barely had to ask for anything because the servers were one step ahead. The tip: when we got the bill we noticed a line for tip and another line for captain's tip. Being totally clueless my friend and I had to quickly google what the captain's tip was. We finally figured it out. The price for lunch was reasonable considering the portion and quality of food. Parking: our parking was paid for by the spa; however, the waiter mentioned that if you eat at the restaurant they do provide a discount for the valet parking; I'm just not sure if this applies to both lunch or dinner time. I would more than likely return and recommend it if you're in the area.

Service was on point! Just sat down for dinner and we already had cheese, bruschetta, garlic bread, fried zucchini and a glass of water!! I took my hubby here for his bday and it was perfect for what I wanted - a fancy, romantic dinner for 2! Now, the food, WOW!!!! My hubby had veal (I passed on a taste) but he said it was fantastic. I'm a pasta LOVER and I couldn't decide between the tortellini or carbonara so when I asked the waiter which one he recommends he simply said "both, so ill split your plate in two"! Needless to say I got to eat both dishes and I was a happy, satisfied girl! Highly recommend this place for dinner

The best service of any restaurant I've ever been to...HANDS DOWN. Attentive and helpful staff from managers to servers.... Amazing fresh food. I've never been disappointed at an Il Mulino. This is a good restaurant that serves traditional italian food. The food is good and presentation is tradional, home made dessert, excellent! Fit for foodies, notable wine list, romantic, special occasion, hot spot!

I had a good experience here. Bartender was attentive. Server made suggestions and helped me choose a delicious butternut squash ravioli. It was incredible! Pricey but worth it.

Wow, where do I start. Well I thought we were off to a good start with some excellent antipasto items such as nicely prepared zucchini. Then I had two tastes of wine that were highly acidic and I had to pass on the wine which was a little pricey at $15 -$20 a glass. The pricing was pretty expensive. It was at Aqualina Spa in North Miami Beach where we stayed for a few days for our 5th Anniversary. So we expected a high price restaurant because Aqualina is a 5 star spa resort and is expensive. The service at Il Mulino was overall good. Most the staff had a great attitude. But the big disappointment was having the seafood fra diavalo which had no spice to it and was very boring. Not what you'd expect for a $40 meal. As an Italian who knows great Italian food, I was surprised at the lack luster in one of the most popular Italian menu items. My wife had the lobster and risotto dinner which was ok but very pricey at $55. We needed to split an entree. This restaurant is for people who can spend $300 to $1000 on dinner and a bottle or two of wine. But if you are a value oriented diner, this might not fit the bill for you.

Wow! I feel like I'm back in Rome, but with a really nice view of the beach! The food here tasted so authentic, and the service was great. There was never a moment we had to wait to get something we wanted. While it is a little pricey, I think it was totally worth it. The menu had something for everyone, and the desserts were fantastic. Be nice to the materdee and he might bring you some strawberry grappa, on the house!

WOW! What a disappointment. I've had better prepared pasta from places that are 2/3 the price. The service is terrible, total rookies. Zero knowledge and zero care for the experience and at these prices one expects an experience. The Food: I was at a table for 3. We ordered several items and shared. We had to send simple spaghetti con pomodoro back because it wasn't al dente. Too over cooked the consistency of chef boy ardee. My ravioli were very tasty but again over cooked and mushy. The branzino was good but the brocolli rabe was overcooked so we sent that back too. The Atmosphere: Blech terrible. Dark dated and just old. Nothing chic about this place at all. It's more for the 60+ demographic. Better Italian food and vibe at Scarpetta at Fountainbleau or DeVitos. Or I actually had amazing pasta and Italian at Spris on Lincoln road with even better service. Overall not impressed wouldn't recommend Il Mulino. Way better out there for the buck.

First off this is not your normal hotel restaurant. Before menus are even placed on the table there is enough food to walk out and be full after you are done. Everything I tried was great but it was my entree, the veal parmesan that was amazing. When the plate showed up it looked like there was a 12" pizza sitting in front of me with a bone sticking out the side. The veal was pounded into a perfect thin circle and it tasted as good as it looked. I definitely recommend this place but make sure you bring a few credit cards because it is not cheap.

I went to Il Mulino the other night for a special occasion and had a very enjoyable, albeit very expensive evening. Located in the posh Acqualina resort/condo, this Il Mulino is the Miami outpost of the critically acclaimed Il Mulino in New York. We went on a Monday night so it was very quiet, but that made it easy for the service to be stellar, which it was. The restaurant is very dark with rich reds and dark wood furniture providing the warm setting. The tables are set very formally and there are non-dining tables decoratively displaying an array of foods/condiments/etc. The two tiered restaurant is long and narrow and their are arch shaped windows that look out onto the ocean. You almost wish the windows were a little larger however. There are also service stations between the windows and tables where your captain prepares some of the dishes ordered. Once seated you are bombarded with small offerings of salami, fresh Parmesan, zucchini, garlic bread, bruschetta with a mussel, and a bread basket. All are very tasty and the bruschetta has a nice bite to it. The parmesan is fantastic too. For appetizers we ordered a Caesar salad and clams oreganata. The Caesar was fresh and delicious. The dressing, made table side, was sweet and refreshing. I really enjoyed it. The clams were small and sweet served in a tomato based sauce that was helpful to dip both clams and bread alike in. They were pleasant appetizers, and at this point, after being given so many treats, fullness began to set in. For our entrees we went with 1 chicken parmigiana and 1 veal parmigiana. Both these dishes are served without any sides so we also opted for a side of penne marinara, adding to the already steep prices for Italian food. The penne marinara was prepared by the captain table side and was truly outstanding. On the other hand, both the veal and chicken parmigiana, although good, were slightly disappointing. The cuts of meat are fantastic as is the cheese used, but my main concern was the lack of red sauce used in preparing the dish. Accordingly, both dishes were lacking sweetness, were a little dry, and had a more pungent cheesy flavor than a nice balance with sweet or spicy tomato sauce. Its a shame because the sauce on the penne was so good, that obviously they have mastered that art. In my humble opinion, more sauce was necessary. We did decide to indulge in dessert and opted for the tartuffo which consisted of delicious vanilla and chocolate ice cream in a rich dark chocolaty shell accompanied by fresh fruit and homemade whipped cream. It was really delicious and refreshingly sweet. The restaurant also provided complimentary orange-cello which was limoncello but orange flavored. It was pretty rough going down, but a nice gesture by way of digestif. I would be remiss not to mention that although prices appear not to be so much higher than a steakhouse, they really do seem to add up at Il Mulino and it is very expensive, so be forewarned. On the whole though, you get a large amount of food (so you can bring some home) and I enjoyed my experience here. The food, on the whole was very good and the service was impeccable. I was however a bit disappointed with the entrees and if I returned I would try to get a pasta dish instead.

The restaurant is in the gorgeous Aqualina Hotel. Go early & explore the grounds & the beach. Then be prepared to feel like you're in Italy. The food is divine; the service impeccable. Just a beautiful experience! & did I mention the food is great? Leave room for dessert -- the chocolate cake is to die for.

Bada Bing!! Il Mulino is fine Italian dining at it's finest. Located in the beautiful acqualina resort and spa, Il Mulino is an outpost of the popular New York restaurant going by the same name. My favorite dish here is the homemade tagliatelle with beef ragu. It's simple, it's sweet, it's savory, it's el dente and it's perfect. Honestly it's just one of those great dishes that every restaurant attempts and few correctly execute. Il Mulino nails it on the head every time. A few other noteworthy menu items are the eggplant parm appetizer, the snapper francaise, the bread and olive oil platter they start you off with, and all of the fruit sorbets. Bottom line, this place doesn't disappoint.

Excellent restaurant! The best service I have received in a long time. The staff were friendly, attentive and made you feel like royalty. The food was delicious, but I would recommend asking for little salt. Some items were a little salty. The veal parmigiana was awesome!:-) Beautiful ambience and worth the trip. If you know of an appetizer you'd prefer to have, I would opt out of the open table starters.

I have been to Il Mulino several times. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is excellent, and the service is flawless. This is the only restaurant that I have ever been to that serves you a feast of food before you even get the menu! I have had several menu items that were all delicious. The chef at Il Mulino is very accomodating. I wanted something that was not on the menu that I felt like having and the chef prepared it for me to my liking. Awesome! If you want to be pampered and don't mind spending the big bucks, Il Mulino is the place to try.

I was always a fan ( been here 7-8 times), but not after tonight. Yes, its a solid 3 to 3.5 star rating. But, for a $270 meal, I expect much more. Service was average. Food was average, Expereince was average. For the same $$, Scarpetta was 100 times better.

One of my favorite restaurants in the U.S. Whether you visit the New York, D.C., or Miami location, it is definitely one of the best traditional Italian restaurants in the U.S. I've been to a few of Mario Batali restaurants that are great as well, but I would decribe Il Mulino as more traditional italian. If you go, order the Bucatini Carbonara as your primo and Branzino as your secondo.

Why is it that when restaurants venture out to Miami they so often lose their edge, become complacent, lack luster and just tired? This is unfortunately the case with this place. First off, I am a huge fan of Il Mulino back in NYC. The "take it or leave it attitude", cramped space, "NY institution feel" , great ingredients and solid service work so well there. However, I can't say any of these attributes carried over well to this location. In fact, the Sunny Isles location itself seems an interesting choice for a brand that carries with it a level of old world charm which was completely lost in the modern marble shrine that serves as home to this NYC institution. We were seated and immediately overwhelmed with multiple options of antipasti similar to their NYC location but definitely lacking on the quality of the bread selection. Our server lacked menu knowledge and had to correct himself multiple times as we toured through the menu with questions. The experience was a little disjointed with long breaks in between course clearings and overall seemed plain and flat. The quality of the ingredients (clearly unripe tomatoes in the buffalo mozzarella appetizer $22) isn't something you would expect at this price point or from this brand. Even when the check was dropped there was no "thank you" or maybe a "good evening" from our waiter. On the way out there was no form of acknowledgement as the host stand had obviously been closed and management didn't think it necessary to greet the guest on their way home. I will be back to Il Mulino in New York and recommend anyone wishing to give this place a try to go there first as there are far better Italian options in Miami.

I give it a generous 3 stars. Food was just ok. Service fair. I was looking for an earlier reservation and was told none were available. I arrives 30 minutes BEFORE my reservation and the place was 3/4 empty! We didn't eat much, and the bill was over $200. Not going back. Il Mulino in Las Vegas MUCH better!

A lot of food!! By the time we ordered our meal I was full!! On the table when you sit down, there is a plate of spicy sliced zuchini, and a mussel, and then they have garlic bread and other breads, plus they come around with a big chunk of parmesan cheese and bruschetta with tomatoes. That's before you even look at the menu.... The restaurant overlooks the beach at the Aquolina buidling in Sunny Isles, it's very pretty. It's small and quaint. The original Il Mulino is from New York City and it has a good reputation. The service is very attentive. They have a great menu, and there are usually a few specials. We shared a cesar salad and it was made table side, but I didn't love it, it was a little too sharp for me. My son enjoyed it. One of our diners had a serving of clams oreganato although he swore he asked for shrimp oreganato, he ate it anyway. They were teeny tiny clams. Nice bar, huge drinks, and good wine selection. If you like veal, they have the best veal parmesan around. They pound a huge veal chop into a thin cutlet the size of the plate. The rissotto dishes are also very nice. Our table had the risotto with the mushrooms and the risotto with seafood. Both had half portions and still could not finish it. The in-laws had a nice piece of cheesecake and the birthday boy had a small piece of flourless chocolate cake on the house. The strawberry grappa was also offered on the house after dinner, it was tasty, never had that before. The best part of the meal is that we were being treated for my son's birthday by the grandparents! The prices here are very steep!! This is a special occasion place, unless your flush with cash, then enjoy regularly! Also the meals are large enough to share and even though we shared, we still brought home a ton of food. This place is worth the drive.

This is a good Italian restaurant. Execution is very precise and spot on however pricing is stratospheric. $18 for caprese di mozzarella di Bufala? Thought it would be innovative for that price but damn... two slices of tomatoes two slices of mozzarella and some basil. It tasted just like what we ordered but damn... $18? eggplant rollatini was much tastier. Got two pastas, the papardelle and veal ravioli were good and same as I remember. Warning entrees are enormous. We split a steak and hand to doggie bag it. It was a good steak with lots of wild mushrooms smothered all over it. Wine list is meager at best. A few Gaja but very little amarone or super tuscan selections. The Vegas location has a much more complete wine list. Location is also fairly far from SOBE so know where you are staying. Also no white truffles even when in season.

The reputation of the original in New York is what drew us to the Aqualina Resort and Il Mulino. The hotel was beautiful, over priced, but nicely appointed. The resturant-not so good. In fact for over $300. for the two of us-it was a bitter disappointment. Yes, you are inundated with anitipasta as soon as you sit down, but don't be fooled by the swiftness of the service, as it slows down markedly after that. My husband had the Caprese salad, and it could have been from any number of chain resturants. I decided to wait for the lobster special. Shouldn't have bothered. What lobster wass in the dish was tough, rubbery and inedible. The bed of pasta was swimming in a sea of oil (olive?) FOr the astronoomical chargge of $77.! I expected much more.My husband's chicken paillard was pounded so thin, it looked like a piece of paper-not even cardboard-that would have been too thick. Had it been fork tender and delicious, it would have been acceptable, but instead it was absolutely tasteless. FOr some inexplicable reason, there was a bone, like from a thigh maybe attaced to one side of the paillard-maybe to show us that it was indeed chicken. The accompanying vegetables were mushy and overcooked. Service was slow-45 minutes between courses, and while they were friendly, there was an air of indifference about them all except for the little guy serving bread. Upon leaving, not one employee ask about our meal or invited us back. That was a good thing, because we would not go back. Maybe this was just an off night for what we ordered, but we would not chance it again. After we left, we went into the bar for an after-dinner drink. The bar tender who had been so friendly beforehand ask how our meal was, and when we said"horrible:-simply walked away. That about said it all.

Great meal. Service was super attentive. Before menus r brought out, they bring over little tastings which were all amazing. Bruschetta, salami and zucchini. Spinach ravioli perfectly cooked. Dover sole was the best ever. Tiramisu is a must have. Sauté spinach and prawns was sick. Great meal.

A vendor visiting from Texas invited me to dinner and asked me to pick the restaurant. I'd heard Il Mulino was good, so we arranged to meet there at 6:30 PM. The three of us ladies started at the bar, where we had a really nice bottle of Francescan Cabernet, while exchanging relationship advice with the bartender. We then moved to the dining room, where they brought complimentary appetizer after complimentary appetizer. We were almost too full to order an entree! We had another couple of bottles of wine, plus San Pellegrino water. I ordered chicken with asparagus, artichoke and peas in a white wine sauce. It was outstanding. The waiters were friendly and brought us glass after glass of free grappa that was also incredible. We moved to the outside patio overlooking the pool and the head waiter joined us with a huge bottle of grappa. I finally had to get home, so made my way out at 11 PM, while my colleagues stayed behind, enjoying the beautiful view and a few more free drinks. Overall a really fantastic time.. Yes, it was expensive, but I didn't pay! LOL

Fabulous restaurant. One of my favorite Italian restaurants anywhere, which is HIGH PRAISE from me - my great-grandparents came to the U.S. from northern Italy on a ship across the Atlantic, through Ellis Island. Love the hard cheese and fabulous balsamic brought when you arrive. Fabulous food. Incredibly attentive, old-school service. Great wine list. Tremendous desserts. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny...!

Top notch in every area. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here and they made it memorable. They put rose petals all over the table, gave us a beautiful slice of cake with "happy anniversary" written on it, and everyone, down to the bus boy, wished us a happy anniversary. The food was absolutely amazing and they didn't miss a beat with service. Expect to open your wallet, but be satisfied with what you get.

Omgoodness!!!! The service was without a doubt 2nd to none. They catered to every request even when it was time for dessert, they prepared a super mix that was amazing. I'm from New York and have never had cannoli filling close to theirs. Fantastic friendly attitude from the entire staff. Bravo!!! However the food can use some flavor. I had a veal pounded into a pancake with tons of cheese and tomato. It wasn't tasty and cost $55 and worst of all I couldn't eat it even after removing the topping and placing Marinara sauce over it. Otherwise a wonderful experience.

If you are looking for an unforgettable, special experience then this is the ideal restaurant. I first went here for my 16th birthday and it made such an impression I have never forgotten it. Last year I went again for Christmas dinner and it was just as good as it had been years ago. The service is out of this world... before you are even handed a menu, 10 waiters surround you with different dishes, appetizers, bread, cheeses, and your table is all of a sudden full of food. The dishes are amazing but the real beauty of this place is the service and atmosphere. The best part is when they bring ice chilled limoncello to your table. Beware, you won't leave this place without at least spending $200.. all worth it.

I had lunch here with my mom and it was so delicious! Of course we didn't have the typical Italian dishes that you would have here if you come here for dinner instead of lunch for instance a pasta or a steak, so take my review lightly (even though it's a good one)! My favorite about this restaurant was that the moment you sit down the service is awesome, the waiters are very attentive, and they give you a bunch of little goodies before your food comes such as an amazing bread tray, Parmesan cheese, & bruschetta. It was all so yummy! For our actual lunch we got the Rucola salad and added shrimp to it and it was so delicious and healthy, we were trying to stay on the lighter healthier side. There's nothing like a simple salad that has really high quality olive oil and lemon as the dressing. Also, the shrimp was prepared really well and seasoned perfectly so it matched with the salad nicely.

MAGIC! This is the kind of place where dreams come true. Where you're serenaded by a Frank Sinatra-esque Italian man while you propose to your long term girlfriend in the dimly candle lit corner. The meatball antipasti is superb, best meatball we've ever split in our lives. In addition to free apps flying out of the corners of the restaurant by kind gentlemen who are there to fill your every whim of hunger and/or indulgence. The ravioli is what I imagine to be served for Sunday dinner in heaven. "Ravioli in a CHAMPAGNE, TRUFFLE CREAM Sauce you say??" Um my 3 favorite things combined into one dish, don't mind if I do. But the real gem of this fine establishment...the shallots. To die for.

PERFECTO! If you want to spend a Romantic evening and seek Elegance & Very Fine Dining, this is the place to be. Service is impeccable, food is Superb! The Lobby transports you to a European Palace. Il Mulino in NYC is a noisy Trattoria filled with stockbrokers lamenting the days where trades went wrong. Miami Il Mulino is King!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
